Dolomites – the adventure

Today i knew i will have to be very early at the bus stop, for the bus to briong me to the base of the three fampouse peaks of the dolomites, i really planned a easy way up with bus and to enjoy some hours and later walk down… but plans are not life and life have own surprises prepared for you…always

about 10 am, after having a delicious breakfast with my friends, a package delieverd to the hotel, for me, arrived, that early, so i had to care for it… finally my stuff was there… i felt a relief (this is another story)..but then when i was free and off again i realized where already 11 am.

the first bus will take me to the next town, from there i will need to take a second but up to the base of the three peaks… but as Tirol is also part of italy, some of the italian customes have to be observed here as well…stores and also busses stop at midday… they close or dont work, …. another traveler told me they do siesta like in spain, i cannot say so… my friends at the hotel were working hard preparing themselves for the performance tomorrow…

so, it was 11:30 and i was about 4 hours walk away from the base… my fisst decision was to enjoy the forest, and hike up for about 3 hours to a bus stop close to the valley that brings you up the three peaks…

so it was a long way, i had no real map and had just to find a pathway along the way…and move my self fast as didnt want to miss the almost last bus…

so i started to walk, crossed the whole town at the middle of the valley and walked up through the forest, passing through some rivers, and lake… really wonderful, you can see the pictures…

i did really enjoy that pathway up…warm..sunny…sweet and wet…

at 2:40 i was already at the bus stop,…i made it… and one hour before the bus! youhuuu! apparently after teaching and office work, i am still fit enough to play with the mountain…

i have been missing that…. i thought the rest of the day will be very easy…that all was then one more time coordinted…but it wasnt that way…a key unespected informtion will bring to me that adrenaline rush i was wishing for, later on…

the whole last three days these mountains have been calling me, leaving in my heart the feeling of an ancient civilization living some how still here…so more and more i felt moved to that stone gates, up there…

at 3:20 the bus came, picked me up and in about 30 minutes we were at a highest lake, and then to the hut for climbers… up there… cooling wind, the skzline in 360..and you and the sky…what can be better?

well, listen:

i asked the bus driver when was the last connection down… it was about 16:00 when i asked ..he said at 5 pm…

we landed in the back side of the peaks, and actually i wished to play didjee and do some yoga and sword katas on the front side, where the gates show their platforms… …so…which alternatives i would have… to walk around the peaks will take about 3 hours for many if walk to teh left.. if to the right maybe one hour……then i could go to the next hut and then take a pathway down to the next one to catch the last bus at 19:30 to my hotel…

ideal plan..again…

i know, for me also sounded like…”no way” why to do it…but i did…

my point of no return was at 16:30 where i found my self at the first hut, already at the other side of the three peaks… in the front side, where i wanted to go… i rested for a while, and asked for directions, took my “very simple” tourist office map..and started to look for a place for meditation, for at least 30 min, while heading down…

i found it and i took many pictures and had so much fun meeting people up there…

it was clear, almost 5 pm, and i was the last guy walking down the mountain that late…the sun was almost ready to go and was my first time on that pathway…

yes…no one experienced in mountaineering will recomended me to try that idea out…but i did…

why..well, we take decisions and take chances…

will i meet ice on the path, will the path be to complex to walk down, stones or hard path, will all be wat…is the soil stable… how far is the next hut… does my handy work…do i have enough food and warm cloths if i get stuck along the way…in the night…will my knies survive the effort if i push to get it on time for the bus down there…

the people i asked calculated about 4.5 hours back to my hotel from up there…or 6 hours if i decide to take an alternative path to the other valley…

sure, to the other valley i will probabl reach a town early…but very far away home…

i considered i might not arrive on time for the bus.. i will probably have to walk the whole night to my hotel… so i will take the hard short path…. a 3.5 or 4 hours hike… it means i will walk at night… will a see where i go?

any way i will try that out…

some protein powder, spirualina, water, fruits and vegis… a smoothy on the way… a first aids kit…. and ready for some walking…

about 30 min later, almost in front of the three peaks i found a nice place for meditation sounding and sword kata… i took my time to enjoy, that was the reason i was up there…right? well there was another one…the walls of that peaks, that raw stone are gates to other times and places…you camn feel it with an energetical touch… if you like to travel you will know what i mean… a wonderful light city beyond the images the stones bring to you, for some might be memories of an ancient civilization, for others a gate in time, for others a path to another world…what ever it is, i knew i was at the right place doing the right thing…so i did some love breathing and took as many images internally of the place recognizing what i will need to do the next time i will be there again…yes..i am planning to try it one more time… as it was fun!

after meditation i went all the way down…stones pathway like stairs, not that friendly for the knies, i could see the valley but not a path not a hut…and it was along distance of stairs and stones and …. the sun was going down…

the last thing you want to do is to get stuck walking down in a path full of the most strange and dangerouse stones… in darkness… and in a vertical wall of about 75 degrees…

but i was lucky, i arrived to the base in about 1 hour..more than espected anz waz… i would be lucky if i find the bus stop on time… i left the stones area and entered some river plate and forest…

along that time i knew i had another challenge… the marks for the path were about 50 mts to 70 mts from each other…if the path continue that manner, i thought, i wont make it in darkness… was i ready to stand a night up there… i wasnt tired enough to dont run…but would i run the following 7 kms? any way…i kept walking

about 30 min later appered the hut and a path of asfalt… my first feeling as: made it…but it was too soon… there was more for me waitring along the road… literallz..

my time chart for the bus wasnt right…the bus was gone at 18:45 about…and i arrived there at 19:10 very much on time for my first planning and schedule i had…in other words…i made it on time…but not for the real bus…..

but it was a road, very easy to follow,i just had to make it before 8 pm to the main highway down there to get the last bus nr 445…. there..down there

so, i walked down…all got dark, the forest is wonderful taking to you in the dark… i really did enjoy the light changes and the sounds of the water and wind…all was cooling down, the sun was away then the water in the air started to create a cold moisture and all feels abit cold….

almost there..i saw some lights, it was the high way… found the bus stop, exactly on time for my record…20:20… the next bus was 20:22 i felt ok… but..i realzed it was a bus in the opposite direction…i crossed the street…the last bus to my place was gone at 19:30

and i was not yet at the valley of my hotel… and all was really dark…i had only one chance… to walk in the highway at night? that is for sure not ok…

i had a little light, and remembered how to walk in the highway ( i did that befor…and i have to tell this…i didint like it… it is a matterof luck if the right driver miss you or see you or not see you when you are there…) at night, litle by little… stop when the cars come to you,,… slowly, listen to the engines, see the lights…get away from their way…remember they dont see you…turn off your light when they are 50 mts close…they wont understand your light and you might create an acident…keep close to the forest as much you can… look for a hikers path..if you can see any…

it was cold, i was tired..and i knew i had still a long path before home…any way…all the time… and it was ok..not yet 9 pm…

after about 45 min…i noticed a hiking pathway…yes a pathway that goes to my hotel…i was happy…

to walk at night deep night in the forest is a wonderful experience, also if you have a river next to you… an endless forest…

but in about another hour i arrived to another street with lights..and 10 minutes later i was in my hotel…

wonderful, my friends were eating already…just on time for dinner…

water, first aids kit, super food, warm clothing, prepared for emergency b-back (sleep i the forest or mountain without tent), a nice friend on hand: jaegermeister, a tiny light… and lots lots of presence and awareness with each decision and move you take even when you deeply tired..you need to decide every time what you need to do…with the inmediate results… for example in the highway at night…

the stars were wonderful, the river was singing… the high way didint botter me…

i felt tired but happy… and i noticed one of my friends was calling me on the phone but i could not answer..my handy didnt work… yes…i have been hiking alone in the mountain with no handy…

dont try it yourself without experience…even for me, it is fun, but also adrenaline…

all decisions were right…to choose another alternatives would bring me in worst or more difficult situation, for sure the alternative 1. to go back at 5 pm or to sleep in the mountain hut were not real options…

the most challenging thing was timing, to coordinate weather, time, temperatur, energy, spped. save energy, breath, keepo centered, listen to your heart and intuition….and geography of the path and potential risk i would find in a path i have never been in…

from the top to down…i needed another 4.5 hours…and i was all the time alone in the mountain… yes…tottaly aware and self responsible… noticing that a little instant you let go your presence would mean a high cost for you….if feeling tired could create a tiny instant of distraction and you could step in the wrong spot or take the wrong decision or follow the unnecessary emotion….. yes…fear practice is a must…but what to fear about? to coordinate yourself and do the necessary things in the right time is about self responsibility—not about fear… that is how the mountain is… there is no mercy if you sleep your self… as all that happend up there you create with your own decisions and actions and presence…

i felt loved all the time, cared and supported by nature and friendly spirtts…. i did sing and laugh also review all my life, and remembered all moments and places i have been in the mountain… yes i saw all my life..maybe because my instinct told me what i was doing was relatively dangerouse?…maybe..but if you are present and in love…there is no need to be concerned about fear or adnger…but about being there in that instant fully aware…then all will unfold perfectly

a wonderful day i have to say… full of micro adventures, along a new path…always something new unespected …. and my self…doing the best..making the best out of it…

have been a wonderful day…
